Supporting Your Family

Addiction affects everyone – not just the person with a substance use disorder. ARCH provides therapeutic services to the entire family unit to ensure that everyone can begin to heal.

Family Care Program Offerings

At ARCH, we believe that family involvement in the treatment process benefits everyone. Through involvement in family programming, many families realize how significantly the entire family system is impacted by the substance use. Our family programming aims to educate family members on adolescent substance use, provide families a space to work on dynamics and relationships, and offer support.
Individual Family Sessions
ARCH places great emphasis on creating a therapeutic space designed specifically for adolescents. The care team incorporates weekly individual family sessions alongside evidence-based practices to strengthen communication, support healing, and promote emotional, physical, and spiritual growth.

The two-day family intensive program is facilitated by the adolescent family therapist on our Harpeth Campus (1062 Hwy 70, Kingston Springs, TN 37082). The family intensive aims to empower parents by providing them with new tools, skills, and knowledge. Content themes discussed include: education on addiction, family roles, parenting, boundary setting, effective communication, family recovery, healthy detachment, and forgiveness.

Families can visit campus after your loved one has reached 30 days and the family member has completed of the Family Intensive program. This will be arranged by your loved one’s therapist. For additional support, a parent alumnus will facilitate a regular online Zoom meeting that provides our families with support during this difficult process. Guest speakers are also incorporated to include alumni and professionals versed in aiding families coping with addiction.

Families that have transitioned their adolescent into extended care and completed the family intensive are invited to participate. The goal is to build upon and reinforce gains made during the primary care phase of treatment. The group processes Al Anon and family intensive concepts such as letting go, trusting the process, honest communication, family recovery, and self-care. After you have completed the family intensive and your loved one has transitioned to a lower level of care, the family therapist will contact you with dates, times, and additional information.
