About ARCH Academy
Cumberland Heights first opened its doors in 1966, and in 1985 we expanded programming to serve adolescent boys. Research shows adolescents are our most vulnerable patients, and we wanted to create a place they could really take their time to recover among peers in wide open spaces. Our adolescent program has changed and grown a lot in the past three decades, but our core mission remains the same: To transform lives, giving hope and healing to those affected by alcohol or drug addiction.
Addiction is a chronic, progressive and potentially fatal disease. We carefully provide the highest quality of care to adolescent males and their families who are at varying degrees of substance abuse, ranging from misuse to substance abuse dependence to full-blown addiction.
ARCH Academy strikes a balance between therapy, academics and recreation and is designed to provide an individualized treatment within a therapeutic group milieu. Though a primary 12-Step addiction program, ARCH Academy treats the whole child, including underlying co-occurring mental health issues, family issues, relational barriers and poor academic confidence.
We are currently located on Cumberland Heights’ beautiful 177-acre campus on River Rd in Nashville, TN, but once our expansion is complete, we will transition to our 67-acres property in Kingston Springs. It’s about 15 miles and a 25-minute drive from our main campus.

Adventure therapy, otherwise known as experiential therapy, has been shown to greatly benefit adolescents in recovery by breaking down some of the barriers and stigmas associated with typical treatment and by getting youth actively involved in unique ways.Learn More
